In Colombia, only twelve silent fiction feature films were made. Two are preserved in their entirety, two are lost, and only fragments of the remaining films survive. Although in many cases the plots of these films can be reconstructed through reviews from that time, it is impossible to have a precise idea of their stories. Nonetheless, the ruins of these films can be experienced by present-day viewers as autonomous pieces. If one ignores the fact that the copies we preserve are only tattered remnants due to the passage of time, they appear as new and enigmatic objects. They are accidents of history that produce new films and relationships with the viewer.
